APF's Erosion Control products
Hydro mulch ingredients
Hydromulch is a mix of a water retaining mulch, held together by a binder or tacifier, which when mixed with water and sprayed onto exposed soil, acts as a soft erosion inhibitor. It is manufactured using sugar cane mulch, shredded paper, fibre pellets or mixes of these products and guar, a binding agent. It is then bagged and palletized ready for shipment. APF manufactures a range of hydro mulch ingredients to customer specification.
Garden mulch length cane (50ml) is the leaf from the sugar cane crop processed through a 50 mm screening system to size the product and eliminate fines. It is then processed through a separate screening process to reduce dirt and dust; resulting in a product that is clean to work with. Sugar cane fibre has excellent water absorption and water retention qualities, which are highly valued in the hydro mulching process.
Short cut cane (16ml) - this product is processed in the same way as the garden mulch length cane except that it goes through a 16 mm screen making the fibre a finer product to work with; enabling it to go through applicators more easily and thereby reducing clogging.
Pulp paper is made from Grade 9 waste paper (newsprint, phonebooks, printing off-cuts, cardboard) and is processed through production grinding and screening systems to produce a clean, light product.
Fibre pellets are made of fines from sugar cane mulch processing, which are compressed into small pellets with high moisture absorption qualities. This product is blended with the pulp paper to produce another hydro mulch option. Note that this product is limited and not always available. Please check with your sales rep or APF's office for availability.
Product packaging: All hydro mulch ingredients except the fibre pellets are packaged in compressed square plastic bales averaging 17.5 kg each, stacked conveniently onto hire pallets at 36 bags per pallet for easy transport and reduced labour. Stacked pallets are covered with a clear plastic stretch hood that is sealed at the top and contains a UV stabilizer to protect the product from the weather.
