APF commenced business as Tanawha Hay Shed in 1975 and quickly became a pioneer in the stock-feed and transport industry in Queensland. Following extensive national and international market research in the late 1990's, director Paul Woosley diversified the business into manufacturing and packaging garden mulches (sugar cane, lucerne, tea tree and straw) with leading brands such as VIRGIN MULCH and EARTHWISE sold wholesale nationally to landscapers and garden centres.
In 2004 the company changed its name to Australian Prime Fibre. With the commissioning in 2008 of the company's new 'state-or-art' factory at Childers Queensland, the product range has been expanded to include cellulose based hydro-mulch ingredients and ceiling insulation, natural fibre pellets, stockfeed and most recently, an organically composted soil conditioner and composted mulch made from sugar industry waste and by-products.
This new processing and packaging facility is viewed as the most modern and technologically advanced agricultural processing factory in Australia.
With many years experience in designing and importing equipment to automate its own factories, APF has become a major Australian and New Zealand agent of automated palletising, bag filling and stretch hooding equipment. Trading as Automatic Palletizing & Filling, this division has sold equipment throughout both countries to help automate other businesses.
